Summer Symposium
The Summer Symposium Series was created so that many in our church and the surrounding Christian community could be exposed to and edified by a larger platform of pastors and teachers on topics that are currently on the radar of FFC. Consider it an opportunity for the sheep to broaden their understanding and perspective by hearing from other trusted leaders and shepherds from inside and outside FFC. There is no cost to attend the symposium. Registration is optional, however registered participants may attend a dinner following the symposium with our guest speaker.

Sunday, June 27, 4-6 p.m.
An immense amount of discussion happens weekly on the Web, through blogs, in print, and over the airwaves regarding this topic. Especially here, after our recent series in 2 Peter, there has been much conversation about the extent of election, the definition of it, the substance of it, as well as the biblical basis for it. Does God only call some to be saved? Does he ordain some to destruction? Do people have a choice? Join us as our first Symposium brings together a rich collection of shepherds who will provide a biblical framework for understanding this concept in the most scriptural way.
Facilitator: Todd Stiles
Keynote Speaker: Chris Eller
Panel Members: Pat Nemmers, John Ottley, Tom Nesbit, John Colyer, Richard Nations, Jimmy Barrentine + FFC elders
Summer Symposium #2: The Call of God for Vocation
Sunday, August 1, 4-6 PM
Over the last 12-16 months we have seen a rise in the amount of people who are expressing a “call” to vocational ministry. Immediately, questions arise, such as, “What does that word mean?” “How do you know what it is a call towards?” “Isn’t everyone called?” “If I’m called, does that mean I get paid to do it?” “Do I have to go to school and be trained?” And so on and so on. It is our privilege in our second installment of this summer’s Symposiums to have a number of “called” men and women unpack various aspects of this loaded word so that each believer can walk in a focused manner towards the “calling” of Jesus in his/her life.
Facilitator: Todd Stiles
Keynote Speaker: Jon and Mindy Jamison
Panel Members: Chip and Jamie Thompson, Geoff Safford, John Shaull, Tom Nesbit, John Colyer, Richard Nations, + FFC elders,
Guest speaker on August 1
Our Global Outreach team has coordinated for Chip Thompson to visit First Family on August 1 and be our guest speaker. Chip is the founder of Tri-Grace Ministries located in Ephraim, Utah, a ministry that centers on reaching Mormons with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is from Iowa originally, and FFC has partnered with Tri-Grace for several summers in their outreach efforts during the Manti Pageant. Chip will equip us with the biblical knowledge and tools necessary to give a sound answer for our faith to those who deny critical doctrine.
