GO Team: Utah – Training

Training is a critical part of this short-term mission trip. In order to be an effective witness and truly engage LDS in conversation, you must be familiar Mormonism and how it differs from biblical Christianity. Mormonism can be very confusing to the untrained person. It uses many Christian-sounding words and themes, but to the Mormons they have different meanings. Moreover, Mormons are very suspicious of any non-official LDS literature. As a result, in order to have a conversation with Mormons, we must learn to use their scriptures and official books authored by their prophets and apostles.

While the training course is required for anyone going to Utah as part of one of FFC’s teams, many participate in the training because they find it an interesting and fascinating introduction into one of America’s religious (albeit non-Christian) traditions.
