GO Team: Utah – Trip Details

In 2012, First Family Church placing primary emphasis on short-term missions in Utah. As a result, FFC is organizing two separate teams to Manti, UT in June 2012. Our goal is to see a significant number of FFC’ers trained, equipped, and go to Utah in 2012. Here are the trip details:

Team Alpha

  • Team Leader:
  • June 18-25, 2012
  • Departs from Ankeny, IA
  • Three nights of ministry on the streets of Manti
  • Day Trip to Salt Lake City
  • Estimated Cost:
    • $400 per person (camping in Manti City Park)
    • Optional: $100 per night per room (hotel accommodations in Ephraim for those who choose not to camp)
  • Cost includes all motel accommodations while traveling, fuel expenses, and breakfast / supper for each day of the trip. Participants will be responsible for individual miscellaneous expenses (e.g. snacks, souvenirs, etc.)

Team Omega

  • Team Leader:
  • June 24-July 1, 2012
  • Departs from Ankeny, IA
  • Four nights of ministry on the streets of Manti
  • Estimated Cost:
    • $400 per person (camping in Manti City Park)
    • Optional: $100 per night per room (hotel accommodations in Ephraim for those who choose not to camp)
  • Cost includes all motel accommodations while traveling, fuel expenses, and breakfast / supper for each day of the trip. Participants will be responsible for individual miscellaneous expenses (e.g. snacks, souvenirs, etc.)

Service Opportunities

  • Drivers. We travel to Utah in personal vehicles. We need drivers with either minivans or SUVs capable of carrying at least four passengers (three + driver) and their traveling luggage. Camping gear and their primary luggage will be carried in a trailer.
  • Food Preparation / Service. Visiting missionary teams in past years have been fed a meal each night by Timothy & Susie Oliver, a wonderful couple with a heart for people and an evident love for the Lord. They have since moved to Malasia to be closer to Susie’s family and to be a Christian witness in that country. We would like to pickup their ministry where they left off. We need a team of 4-5 people who can prepare, serve, and cleanup an evening meal for 80-100 people. The meal is served in a large shelter in the city park.
  • Prayer Warriors. Each year we have some who are unable to physically stand on the streets and engage people in conversation. Instead, they bring lawn chairs and sit on the sidewalk and engage people in conversation when possible, but more importantly, they provide a continuous prayer covering over the many Christians witnessing on the streets. This is an ideal opportunity for elderly men and women or those with some physical limitations to still go on a short-term mission experience.
